One terminal, four airsides you clear separately
Tampa uses a hub-and-spoke layout: one main terminal in the center and four airside concourses, A, C, E and F, each reached by a short automated shuttle. Security is not in the main terminal. Each airside has its own TSA checkpoint at the shuttle exit, so you clear once for your airside. Connecting between airsides means riding back to the main terminal, but you do not screen again.

Security is busiest in the early-morning bank, roughly 5 to 7 a.m., and again from about 4 to 7 p.m.; late morning is the calmest. Since each airside screens separately, your wait depends on which concourse you use, not the airport overall. Southwest and several other domestic carriers fly from Airside C, one of the busiest, so build in extra time if you depart there.
